And then there were four......

So, you're probably wondering what the heck an F-28 is, and where I have been for the last year? Well, here you have 4 of them, all lined up nice as you please. Horizon Air bought these particular aircraft from US Air back in 1996, to replace the Mk1000's we had before. The F-28 is a rugged aircraft and served Horizon well. These are Mk4000 models and have longer range and better payload than the 1000's had. When they were retired, Horizon sent eleven of them to be put in storage in Moses Lake, Washington. Being stationed in Spokane, and only 2 hours away, I became the designated person to go over every 6 months and run the mighty Rolls Royce Spey engines on each one. It got to the point that I was the only employee at Horizon Air with the run/taxi qualifications, so when it came time to take them out of storage for sale, I was elected to go lead the charge. It's also interesting to note that if you look up the Moses Lake Airport in Google Earth satellite view, you can see the last eight F-28's, and 4 PBY's, a B-23, and some other cool stuff parked on the ramp. It's an OOOOLLLDD photo. Cool just the same. Anyways, it has been a labor of love, and it's been great working with my team to do the work. But DAMN, I've been gone a lot! Just thought I owed everyone an explanation. There is more news on the way, but I have to wait a little while longer to spill the beans (;-)
