I think I have waited long enough to put up a picture of Strega, a multiple winner of the National Championship Air Races, and my all-time favorite of the Unlimited Racers. I know the quality of the photo ain't that great, but I don't care. It gives a pretty good sensation of the speed as experienced by us desert rats out in the "Valley of Speed". It's hard to focus and get that one great picture without taking a bazillion pictures. And I have taken my share of that bazillion, HAH! Strega and Tiger Bill have been missing the last couple of years due to financial and other reasons, and speculation was that the Racers would retire after their last attempt. Without them, and a lightly treated Rare Bear, (with good reason), Dago Red was the class of the field and nobody could touch that team. 

     Well, Tiger and Strega are coming back to race this year. Only one problem. Dago Red has been retired. For now. So, it will be Strega, Rare Bear, September Fury, Miss America, Dreadnought, and who knows who else, going for the Gold. It will be exciting and I can't wait for September. Ya hooooooo Baby!
